J-O-B vs Self-Employed
from: Kathy Clark
Be Your Own Boss!!!!
JOB VS Self-Employment
Do you know what we say J-O-B stands for? "Journey of the Broke" or "Just Over Broke". Because your Boss is only going to pay you just enough to keep you from quitting, but never enough to do all the things you dream of.
I have had J-O-B's and I have been Self-employed. Self-employment, in my opinion is so much better. But we are so conditioned to believe that is what we are supposed to do. Mom and Dad said get a college education so you can get a good job. Only there are no good jobs. Not if you love freedom.
Freedom to earn what you are truly worth. Freedom to set your own hours. Freedom to take a vacation when you want one and for as long as you want. Freedom to do something you truly love.
I know there is a lot of fear attached to being self-employed. We have grown accustomed to a check on the 15th and the 30th, and benefits. This is the hook that keeps us tied to the J-O-B. Some even call these benefits "Golden Handcuffs".
If we are in debt, which most Americans are, then we feel the need to be assured we have a certain amount coming in every month. But are we assured? They can lay you off at any moment and they will.
It does take guts to bite the bullet and go for the dream of owning and operating your own business. To take the lid off your income. Yes, you will have to learn some new things, get some advice, do research, and do some planning. In other words, count the costs. But it is worth it.
Your family is worth it and you are worth it. Yes, you deserve to drive the better car and live in the better neighborhood. You deserve to have your children attend the better schools.
There are so many books, tapes, seminars, websites, and forums out there helping us be successful entrepreneurs. Turn off the TV. Take a look at some of these and change your life. Live up to your potential. You can do it.
Finding Mentors is important. You should have at least one, but probably you will need more than one. This site is designed to mentor you and help you along the way.
Jim and I have owned and operated several businesses. We have done some things right and some things no so right. We have learned many things the hard way, through trial and error; a costly way to learn. Today, you can learn to avoid the pitfalls by learning from other peoples experience (OPE).
On our website, we list some of our favorite books, authors, and websites. If you have a unique idea or challenge, send us a email. If we don't have the answer, we may know who does. Together we can find the solution.
A business of your own can be as simple as a lawn service, turning your hobby into a business, turning your gift into an enterprise, or a service into a business venture.
